A felting makeover

A couple of months ago I started this felted picture with the idea I wanted to create a forsythia bush. I got started and then got busy doing other things. Yesterday I got it out and I was no longer inspired by it. So I did some research on landscapes in my books and other tutorials and got out my wools....Not the best day yesterday to work with wool! It was hot and sticky and I felt I was wet felting it as I went instead of just needle felting. Had to take several breaks just to let my hands dry out! LOL....

This is what it was before:

This is what it was by 9pm last night. I think I am happy with it :-)

That's the beauty of working with wool. If you don't like it, just pull it off before you felt it real good and change what you don't like. This still needs some more felting but I like how it looks now.

Happy Creating!

August already!

Hello Fiber Friends!

Can it be that August is here already? Where has this summer gone? It seems like only yesterday we were in Gettysburg for the 150th Anniversary re-enactment. I went with my husband and his family. We were the re-enactors. What an awesome experience. It was something to talk about for a long time. Here we are in our outfits at the 154th NY volunteer Inf. memorial
We aren't really grumpy...it was very hot!!!
So what else have I been up to? Well I have been knitting a lot. I got hooked on Noro yarn and have quite a bit of it in the shop! Here is a project I just finished using Taiyo.

I also started Nuno Felting. I really love it. Of course I love anything related to fiber :-) I did a class at the shop and it was a good time. The ladies all made their own scarves. They did an awesome job. I plan on making more smaller art pieces for an upcoming show. Here is a scarf I really love:
School is just around the corner. I don't know yet what this year will bring. I need to have a knee replacement so will have to fit that in somewhere. Life sure does take some unusual turns. But for now I will just keep on making ART and enjoying the process!

Pillows, pillows, pillows!

Well I am in a pillow mood. I am making some new designs and putting together a pillow using a weaving technique. They both are coming out great. I hope to have pictures for you tomorrow. The weaving technique will be a class. More details to come. Well off to sew!

Sheep

Greetings!

Well, it has been a long hard winter! I can not believe it has been this long since my last post. But it is finally starting to look like spring is coming. Many things have been happening in the shop...more yarn...more projects...and a nice new look inside. I will be posting some pictures in the coming days.

For Christmas I asked for a sheep...one that was easy to take care of. I wanted a wood carving of one for outside the shop. So in January when the weather broke we got the log to the man who make carvings using his chain saws. Finally two weeks ago we picked it up. I think it is really CUTE!!! Dresses up the place a bit. Check it out...

More about me...

Well I told you that I learned to knit when I was in third grade. After taking home ec in high school I was hooked on making clothes and did so for most of my high school years. All my money went into fabric and thread. I guess I got an early start on creating a stash. My dream was to alway have my own dress shop with my own designs. Well quite a few years later I have a shop but it is a fiber art shop. I never thought I would have a shop where there would be spinning, weaving, felting and every kind of supply imaginable to create just about anything your heart desires. I do not have sheep as yet but my husband has not said no!!!!I was asked recently if I ever feel like just going to the shop and playing. I said ABSOLUTELY!!! and in fact just that week I had let myself grab and take whatever I needed just like the designers on Project Runway! I have become so addicted to that show. So my dream is becoming reality slow but sure and I am doing some designing and will share some work with you soon. Well off to create something! Anita
